Straight Stairlifts
This is the simplest type, which also makes it the most affordable. Straight Stairlifts run on a standardized straight stairlift rail, which only needs cutting to the correct length. Because the rail is straight, the stairs it is fitted to must also be straight, with no bends or turns. Straight staircases are often narrower, but modern stairlifts are built with this in mind.

Curved Stairlifts
This type is for staircases which move through bends or turns anywhere along their length. A custom curved stairlift rail must be built to precisely follow the unique contours of the stairs, so curved stairlifts cost more.
